There are alot more changes and server features but this is the worth mentioning areas for me. The power of the items isn't anything overpowered but instead a good base line to get new people started and a strong footing in the game. Quests provide currency for "rental" items which are powerful items to help with leveling. (As a guide a wiki page is provided with all the spawn information) Other zones include High Orcs, GH Graveyard, Toy factory, niffle etc. This is nice when it comes to people starting out, I found it invaluable when getting started in the game. Third is the zone modifications in terms of monster spawns example being GH Prison has modified spawns removing hunter flies and increasing the amount of zombie prisoners (complete with a protected safe zone). Talon Coins are currency to buy gear, cards and services ($1 = 1 Talon Coin) while voting offer copper coins which can be traded for Talon Coins, the exchange rate fluctuates depending on the voting status but it is completely possible to get "phat lewtz" via voting over time. Next is rewards for voting and donation, everything you donate for can be gained via voting (SUPER PLUS POINTS!). The healer NPC also stops alot of the "begging" for heals from priests in towns, the HP & SP heal also comes at a cost which is understandable for the convenience. ![]() TalonRO has the right balance of customization and traditional play which is never easy to do.įirstly is the healer and warper NPC which to me is an essential part of an RO server, especially low rate as a player like me things are difficult enough as it stands without having to travel too much. The server has a number of customized features that enhance player experience without being unbalanced or take away from the RO experience. Other channels include !recruit for party setup and !market for selling and buying. There is always allot of banter and help available. There is a !main chat to keep everyone on the server in touch with one another. Guilds seem to communicate allot on the official forums not always about WoE but in general banter so it's safe to say TalonRO has a close knit community from what I have seen which is the backbone to any successful server. Being in the party things are always social and always a pleasure with little to no toxic attitude. I have had a few people who noticed me in game passing by say "hello" which is always nice. However this doesn't mean I haven't had chance to learn about the community of TalonRO, playing a bard I am regularly joining groups for dungeon hunting and leveling. I haven't really socialized much in terms of guilds and getting to know players on a "friends" level. Too many smaller servers have a feeling of isolation which isn't something I am a great fan of especially on an MMORPG which rewards party play so much as RO does.Įnglish is the main language in the game but I have seen players from other parts of the world play as well so the player base is quite a mix from all over the globe. For me I have never felt alone in the game and always found people around in dungeons, towns and even hunting zones which was excellent. From what I have seen the average is around 1200 people I am sure official figures will differ but this is based on my own gameplay (I live in the UK). ![]() TalonRO has a very healthy population of players. This pre-renewal server is a max base level of 99, Max Attack speed of 190 & 150 DEX instant cast so overall a good setting for someone like myself who wanted a pre-renewal experience. ![]() The server is a 5/5/3 (base/job/drop) server which rewards the community for voting by scaling the rates up to 8/8/3. I have been on TalonRO for around 6 months (on and off), I have been playing more so over the the last week now so got a good feel of the server, community and how everything works which is what this information is mainly based around. Hence forth I started playing TalonRO as a server that has been around for a long time and has a very healthy population. TalonRO stood out as a server that was not only well advertised but had plenty of reviews from players which is why I decided to give it a try. I was looking for a reliable server that I could feel comfortable investing time in without having to worry about my efforts going to waste via a server wipe, server shut down or corrupt gameplay. ![]() I stopped shortly before 2007 and returned to the game in 2009 for a short stint and quit again until 2013. In short I was an avid Ragnarok Online player from 2003-2006. My RO Background and how I came to TalonRO This review is based on my experience only without any input from anyone else. I will be writing up my unbiased review of TalonRO from a player who doesn't interact much with others on a personal level and doesn't know any of the GM's. I hope someone finds this useful either being looking to return to the game, finding a good server or just looking to pass some time.
